My name is Susie wivell and I am a graduate from the Early Childhood Education program at The Mothercraft Institute for Early Learning. I have been working in childcare for the past 15 years and have experienced working with all age groups. I believe in play-based learning, where an Early Childhood Educator is the facilitator for learning and where children can learn, grow and explore in a safe and supportive environment. I am proud to be part of Gibraltar Point Day Nursery.
Jessica Monkhouse Supervisor/RECE at Gibraltar Point Day Nursery since June 2024.
“I feel so fortunate to have the opportunity to work in a unique environment with wonderful and community.”
Jessica Monkhouse
I am so honored to introduce myself as the supervisor for the Gibraltar Point Day Nursery. I have been working alongside children for over a decade and have loved every second of it. Being French Canadian, I take great pride in being a Francophone and love sharing my language with the children! I am a strong advocate for the peaceful coexistence of all beings in both the human and natural realms. I believe continuous engagement with the Land is essential for developing a child's sense of place and belonging. Currently, I am pursuing training to become a certified Forest and Nature School Practitioner, which will enhance my ability to facilitate outdoor learning experiences for children of all ages. In my free time, I love finding new ways to connect with nature. Whether it's pottery, photography, backcountry camping, or rock climbing.
"Hello! I'm Jessica Tingle and I am so excited to be a part of the Gibraltar Day Point Nursery team. I grew up in London Ontario where I graduated from the University of Western Ontario with a Major in psychology. Before moving to Toronto, I worked at a summer camp for 6 years. For the past 10 years I have worked at Aptus Treatment Centres for adults with Dual Diagnoses. I also have had the opportunity to work as an Educational Assistant with the Toronto District School Board. I speak French, play the guitar, and love making crafts! I believe in a person-centred approach when providing support to students and families. I think the Toronto Island is a magical place to work and I always look forward to its beauty when the seasons change. "
